Avoca Beach Golden Oldies Rugby Team
played at Lovedale in the Hunter Valley last weekend in a tournament that saw teams from Nelson Bay to Eastwood do battle on a day.

On a day, more typical to English weather, the White Pointers showed some great form to win 4 out of their 4 games of Rugby. The day saw players emerge from washed out 1st & 2nd division games in the Hunter play for their Oldies against some of the Best Golden Oldies teams in NSW.

Our secret weapon Sara had a man of the match performance as she slammed and smashed opposition players leaving them muddy and dazed on the pitch. Sara has represented Country in the all girls Rugby Union recently and now has found a well earned position in the team at breakaway. The crowd went wild when Sara, single handedly, smashed a 6 ft Ogre and rolled him in what seemed more like a Cumberland throw. The ladies in the crowd went troppo.

Good solid games by Mort, Paul Harries and Steve Clay with good performances by Barry (Baz) and Johnny Easy. Billy, Mick and Buzz Bury and Matt played strong.

Thanks to the Seagulls who helped on the day who also form a part of our team when touring.
